LabelGate Co., LTD, the parent company responsible for Sony Japan’s online music distribution service – Mora was reported to have sold more than 1 million music downloads in December 2005. This figure translates to approximately an increase of 291% compared with the same month of the previous year.
The launch of the new WALKMAN A series (with implementation of the new CONNECT Player) in November 2005 along with an increase of Mora’s music library (approx. 500,000 at the end of December 2005) is definitely an important factor for this 1 million mark milestone. As shown in the table below, the traffic to Mora increased considerably since November 2005.

This bodes well for Mora if Sony continues to improve CONNECT Player and its corresponding hardware. Hopefully, the European and American counterpart (CONNECT Music Service) can catch up with Mora’s success.
