SONY Australia has strengthened its consumer marketing team with four senior appointments. Katsuya Watanabe has joined as digital imaging marketing manager He previously worked in Japan in the a (Alpha) digital SLR camera marketing division. His new role will cover all of Sony’s digital imaging brands and accessories, including Cyber-shot, Handycam and a. Watanabe replaces Yasunari Nishioka, who will move to a role with Sony Ericsson in Sweden.
Nishioka has been with Sony Australia since October 2004 and has managed a number of important categories including Vaio, personal audio, Cyber-shot and Handycam. He was also responsible for the introduction of a in Australia. Kentaro Tanigaki joins as Vaio/personal audio group marketing manager, driving the company’s notebook range as other products. He has been working in the Vaio business for 10 years and recently spent three years with Sony India developing the Vaio brand.
Also moving into a marketing manager role is Graham Keogh, who will head Sony Australia’s recording media and energy division. Keogh has been promoted from his previous role as visual displays senior product manager.
The three appointees will report to consumer audiovisual-IT marketing general manager Koichi Suzuki.
Replacing Keogh in Sony’s visual products group is Jan Ergen, who has been appointed CTV product manager. Ergen has worked in product management roles at Panasonic across a number of home entertainment categories, including DVD, and more recently television.
