Mikah Martin Cruz, Sony’s general manager of central marketing, has left Sony, which has replaced him with Vodafone’s Matt Coombe. Coombe, who joins today, was formerly the head of brand at Vodafone. He was responsible for the relaunch of the Vodafone brand within the company’s communications, retail network and employee training.
Prior to joining Vodafone, Coombe spent five years at Honda where he worked on its “Power of dreams” campaign, rising to marketing communications manager.
Andy Benson, commercial director at Sony, said: “We are very happy to welcome Matt into the Sony family and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Cruz worked across Sony brands such as its Bravia LCD TV range and its Vaio laptops. Sony announced his departure on Friday, saying only that he had decided to pursue his career outside of the company after two years.
