I was going to copy and paste the press release for this phone, but the text is so cheesy that I’ll just write it myself. Sony Ericsson launched the T700 today, which is a very similar looking phone to the extremely successful T610 that catapulted SE to the forefront years ago. While this isn’t an iPhone killer by any means, the T700 has some smart features and has an attractive appearance. The 10mm thin T700 will feature a gorgeous 2″ TFT LCD screen (240×320; 262,144 pixels) and a 3.2 megapixel camera with 25mb of built in memory. Sony will include a free 512mb Memory Stick Micro (M2) storage card so consumers have storage space to work with.
One thing the press is seemingly neglecting is that the phone actually has two cameras, one on the back and one on the front. Most likely the front camera will work for video phone conversations as well as a personal mirror function for those superficial folk amongst us.
The T700 is a GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSDPA 2100 phone that will be available in selected markets in the colours Black on Silver, Black on Red and Shining Silver from early Q4 of 2008. It’s possible this model will show up as a fully 3G compatible phone on AT&T’s menu in the USA.
