Sony has decided to outsource more of its LCD production to Taiwanese manufacturers, first reported by the Nikkei business daily. Regardless of the outsourcing, Sony will still continue to build core components in Japan and the other usual manufacturing locales. “Sony, which outsourced production of roughly 500,000 LCD televisions to Taiwanese firms in the 2007 business year, is set to raise this to more than 3 million in the current business year ending in March 2009,” the Nikkei said. Sony is rumored to be courting Hon Hai Precision for the job, better known as Foxconn to American consumers.
