Tickets For Yo-Yo Ma’s Carnegie Hall Performance with the Sony Philharmonic Orchestra Now on Sale

Tickets are now on sale for world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s performance with the Sony Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall on October 14, 2008. Tickets are priced at $150, $75, $50, and $30, and are available at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, online at http://carnegiehall.org, or by phone through CarnegieCharge at 212.247.7800. This concert will mark the United States debut for the Sony Philharmonic Orchestra. Maestro Daniel Harding, Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, will serve as conductor for the performance.

The Sony Philharmonic Orchestra, a full symphonic amateur orchestra founded in 1995, is comprised of Sony employees and colleagues from varied backgrounds. More than 60% are Sony engineers. The balance comes from diverse areas of the company, including Sony Corporation, Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony Life Insurance, Sony Music and Sony Marketing of Japan. Over the past thirteen years, the orchestra has performed at major concert halls in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The orchestra’s program for the evening will include Dvorak’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in B Minor, Op. 104; Berlioz’s Le Corsaire Overture, Op. 21 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, Op. 64. A portion of the concert proceeds will be donated to The Harlem School of the Arts, Midori & Friends and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s Arts Education Program in support of arts education.
