At long last, Sony has announced the winners of the My Graphics Splash PC design contest, which was held from July to August and had thousands of entries. Three finalists were chosen, and their VAIO ® My Graphic Splash designs will be available for pre-order, beginning September 17, 2008 at www.sonystyle.com. The winning designs will be sold on FW laptops at the SonyStyle website and top three designers received a trip for two to NYC to attend the Press Event announcing the winners of the VAIO My Graphic Splash Design Contest. Trip included: Coach airfare, accommodations, ground transportation to and from the airport and event, plus $500 spending cash. The Grand Prize winner received $5,000.
According to the Sony Electronics Blog, “The judges were Lauren Conrad, fashion designer and star of MTV’s The Hills and Maya Hayuk, renowned artist and previous VAIO splash designer. In a fashion show featuring models carrying the top 8 finalists’ designs, America’s Next Top Model winner Jaslene was the first hit the runway. From the flashing lights and chic atmosphere to the personalized VAIO notebooks on display, this event was the perfect complement to VAIO style.”

By Crimsonjassic aka Transfuse. Inspiration for design: Ocean waves, koi, and the Vaio’s design. The Vaio FW’s description states: “Reminiscent of a rolling wave, the smooth, curved lines of the FW redefine functional beauty.” I tried to keep that in mind throughout the design process.
By crea8anim8. Inspiration for design: Kaleidoscopes. The way they catch the light and the way the turning motion creates the interweaving of colors always mesmerizes me.
By starfantazy. Inspiration for design: My original artwork, “Colors” was made because I love how colors seem to flow together. Like you can almost feel them or taste them. I think they represent life and all that is so diverse in it.
