As the Blu-Ray market expands, demand for BD-J and BD-Live software has exploded. Sony has opened a new development facility in the Shinagawa Ward of Tokyo that will double the production of BD software. The two-story building is essentially being dubbed as a “media center”, and centralizes the old production/video center that were scattered in other buildings. Customer sales and production engineers come together in this new environment, which should produce better relationships in the workplace and a better experience for the consumer. Since July 2006, Sony PCL has developed software for more than 250 Blu-Ray titles and is expected to finish 600 by year’s end.
