Sony is set to debut a HDMI cable design that differs from the norm but is most likely going to be as common as the standard in the next year or so. The DLC-HD20H (2m/6.5ft), DLC-HD15H (1.5m/5ft), and DLC-HD10H (1m/3ft) HDMI cables will all be released in October, imitating a design first unveiled by Panasonic. These cables are HDMI 1.3a compliant, and have 24K gold plated connectors with the ability to swivel 180 degrees. Sony has also stated that they are “triple shielded” and have ” extraneous noise reduction.” Here’s an example of the swivel possibities:
Whilst these cables will most likely cost a premium, like most Sony HDMI cables, we will stick to buying our HDMI cables at Monoprice. It has been suggested at several Japanese sites that the DLC-HD20H will go for about 5,000Y ($50). However, we could definitely see the advantage to buying these for a wall-mounted HDTV.
