After being released back in Japan during May of this year, the white 1TB VGF-HS1 Home Server is now coming to Europe as the VGF-HS1E for £499.00. With two 500GB SATA (7200RPM) hard drives, this is really a great solution for those with a alot of media. Supported picture formats include JPEG, BMP, PNG. Supported audio formats include WAV, MP3, ATRAC, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, AAC, and WMA. Supported video formats include AVCHD, MPEG2, HDV(MPEG2-TS). Gigabit ethernet make it a breeze to blast content between the HS1E and your other computers.
You can also transfer files to your home server wirelessly with one simple touch of a button. If you’re away from home, the HS1E allows you to access multimedia content stored on your home server wherever you are using the Internet. A feature called VAIO Picture Lab collates a set of images stored on the HS1E to be played in a web browser as a slideshow and downloaded if you so wish. Another feature that wasn’t well-known during its initial release is the ability for PS3 users to easily access the HS1E from the XMB console. Awesome.
Unfortunately, SonyStyle UK doesn’t list a release date, but as this is now available for pre-order the release date will probably fall before Chrismas.
