According to an article at Telegraph.co.uk, “..frustration levels with high-tech gifts peak at 11.48am on Christmas Day, according to a new study, which has identified the precise moment that British consumers go into gadget meltdown. The TechGuys, one of the largest technical support providers in the UK (similar to GeekSquad in the USA), analysed the calls it received last Christmas to see when consumer frustration peaked. It found that its helplines were busiest between 11.40am and 11.56am on Christmas morning, with the most calls logged at around 11.48am. The majority of customers were calling about problems with setting up new computers and laptops and connecting to wireless networks, said the company.”
This poses an interesting scenario, and question to our community – have you ever experienced this situation? Have you ever given someone a gift and they weren’t able to figure it out? I have seen relatives in the past not use their new tech or gadget gifts long after they recieved them and I inquire why. The answers vary and are mostly obvious, and luckily those people are victims of other people’s gifts. I try and give simple gifts, and if someone has a problem with it they can always call me and I will help them out.
I never seem to get confused with new gadgets or technology. I can always pick up an item and figure out how to use it very quickly.
