Sony Intros New Addition to the Blu-ray Family

Posted on

Sony has finally confessed after we have revealed the news about the upcoming Blu-ray Mega Changers and announced the 400 Disc ES and non-ES models: BDP-CX7000ES and BDP-CX960. They also have thrown in another ES single disc player with Wi-Fi BDP-S1000ES. The big boys have pretty much borrowed some goodness from BDP-S5000ES like Sony’s HD Reality Enhancer and Super Bit Mapping technologies. BD-Live, RS232 (ES model only) as well as support for 7.1 channel Dolby® TrueHD and Dolby® Digital Plus, DTS®-HD High Resolution Audio, and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding as well as bit-stream output via HDMI.

There is a Rental button on the units, Sony however did not mention its function just yet…

Sony, we are still waiting on BDP-N460 BD Player, come on, it is almost October!

Pictured below is BDP-CX960. Availability: Fall.

Of course the Emmy winner XMB was slapped onto the units and will feature the ability to download information from Gracenote’s MusicID® and VideoID™ products to organize movies and music.  When a disc is inserted into the device, Gracenote technology automatically downloads information across an existing Internet broadband service and saves title, director, some cast information, release year, and genre information for most titles, allowing users to easily navigate the library intuitively through the player’s Xross media bar™ menu system.

Pretty sweet models. Sony Blog has been teasing its readers with it and let’s see if they found a winner for a $1000 SonyStyle card, as a number of entries were pretty close…still waiting for my winning email notification. LOL.
