80GB Playstation 3 Gets $100 Price Cut

After months of pressure, rumors, and anticipation, Sony says it’s slashing the price of the PlayStation 3 by $100 to $299. Sony said Tuesday it will cut the price of the currently available 80 gigabyte PlayStation 3 effective immediately. Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, says there is no question the consumer reaction to the cuts will be “phenomenal.”

Tretton is right – comments and reactions across various blogs and forums has been overwhelmingly positive so far, with many stating that they are “sold” on the price. This is a very exciting time for the Playstation 3! To those of you out there who don’t own one, does this new price make it much more tempting?
