Product Alerts: VAIO GRX Settlement and VAIO AC Adapter Exchange

AC Adapter Exchange

Sony Japan and USA issued a statement today in regards to Sony VAIO AC Adapter VGP-AC19V17 that may malfunction and the company is offering an exchange for you. If you are an owner of the following VAIOs, head over to this page and initiate your exchange. It looks like I have to do this too, as I got an LT series and I still have to call in to exchange that cute aluminum VAIO mouse too.

– All VGC-LT series computer

– VGC-JS240, VGC-JS250, VGC-JS270, and VGC-JS290 model computers

The following notebook computer docking stations sold after September 2005:

– VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1

VAIOGRX

There is also a settlement that finally took place and it is in regards to failed memory sockets in VAIO GRX 500 and 600 series. And guess what, I was one of those affected too…it was not fun back then in 2004, when my $2200 GRX550 stopped booting. I remember there was so much talk and thousands of unhappy threads devoted to that issue. It is sad that Sony did not take action than and it took so many years and a class action suit to finally get it right. By the way, after the RAM sockets were re-soldered, my GRX has finally died like a month ago, it has served me until September of this year…talk about quality!
