Delicious: Time for the 160GB PS3

Sony is set to release a new limited edition Playstation 3 bundle, this time featuring a 160GB hard drive. This would be the largest capacity game console ever released by any company, and a major blow to the momentum of the XBox. Sony is truly flexing their muscles and displaying to the world now that the PS3 is extremely flexible. The system will formally be known as the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune(TM) PS3 system bundle and should be available in November for $499.99USD. The increased storage space coincides with the entertainment center ambitions Sony has for the PS3 and should be a better fit for potentially heavy users of the Playstation Network Video store.

The new bundle will come bundled with the hit game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a PLAYSTATION Network voucher for PAIN, and a DUALSHOCK3 wireless controller. Additionally, The previously announced 80GB PS3 system ($399.99 MSRP) has started shipping to retailers.

“As PLAYSTATION Network continues to evolve with our recently launched video delivery service and more exclusive games, PS3 owners are demanding more storage capacity,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. “Consumers also are utilizing PS3 as an entertainment hub for their digital media, placing content such as their entire music collection on the hard drive. The 160GB PS3 system addresses this growing consumer demand in a compelling bundle that delivers significant value.”

We’ve found out that this model ships out to European gamers on October 31, and will cost 499 Euro.
