CNET Rates JS190J As “Best Deal on an All-In-One With a Blu-ray Drive”

We announced the All-In-One JS series of home desktops a few weeks back, and the machines are hitting the review circuit to great fanfare. Solid design, great features and stellar performance will delight consumers accordingly. CNET has even noticed a total lack of “craplets,” a term Howard Stringer made famous in reference to the extra software that often comes preinstalled on a computer. CNET also says, “Best deal on an all-in-one with a Blu-ray drive; best-in-class performance for its price; relatively free of software clutter. By virtue of its price, its desktop processor, and its Blu-ray drive, the Sony Vaio JS190J makes a case for itself as the new king of the all-in-ones. Its screen might be a bit smaller than some, but no other all-in-one, including Apple’s iMac, can do as much, as fast, for the same price.”

However, several negatives include, “Its 20-inch screen is smaller than some of its competition; some redundant bundled applications; cheap mouse.”

Common specs: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3 GHz); RAM installed: 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM; Hard drive: 500 GB Standard. This model is also known as the VGC-JS50S, and VGC-JS90 in other regions.
